Guidelines for Prayer Teams at ARC

1 Corinthians 14:40 “All things should be done decently and in order”

------Come ahead of prayer time to pray together and receive instructions.

------Follow the directions of the ARC member in charge of prayer teams.        

------Must wear ARC Prayer Team nametags only with no alterations or additions.

Introduce yourself to those you are praying for, ask permission to touch and use prayer tongues

Know the person’s name you are praying for and their relationship with Jesus.

Know if the person has any previous experience being prayed for.

No advice and no counseling is to be given to those who are being prayed for.

To avoid accusations of pushing please be conscious of how you touch those being prayed for.

Keep shaking under control as this can be frightening to those being prayed for or witnessing it. 

1 Corinthians 14: 32-33

ANOINTING WITH BLESSED OIL - If you anoint with blessed oil those you pray with, please ask permission of person and explain to them that this is not the sacrament of anointing of the sick.

CONFIDENTIALITY - A person’s name, their prayer request, and anything revealed to you during prayer ministry is not to be spoken of to anyone else, not even a spouse.  This is a sacred trust similar to that of a priest during confession.  Prayer ministers must not break this trust.

PERSONAL HYGIENE /  ATTIRE                                                                                                                                                      Bad breath - use a breath mint if necessary    

No perfume/scents - some people have allergies                                                                                       

Profuse sweating - please have a change of clothing if needed.     

Dress modestly so no embarrassing moments occur during prayer ministry.

PERSONAL LIVES OF PRAYER MINISTERS                                                                                                                    

The lives of those serving as prayer ministers should be free of serious sin and anything that could cause scandal to the Church.  Anyone undergoing major difficulties or trauma in their own life is advised not to serve as a prayer minister until these issues have been resolved.
